Quilt Blocks

A quilt is a cozy thing, often a wrap-me-up reminder of many hours of piecing and stitching by a loved one. A quilt can tell a story with pictures or with bits of remembered fabric. It can be a hodge-podge of random shapes or a more formal arrangement of traditional design. Even with use of well recognized block designs, every quilt is unique - the individual fabrics, the use of embroidery to piece the blocks together, the age and skill of the quilter - all of these combine to make a singular result.

Chart leaflets are printed on sturdy, acid-free, archival linen stock containing 30% post-consumer material.

"Diamonds In The Shade" is the first of my quilt block designs. This project features the simple techniques of cross-stitch and one specialty stitch combined with the use of blended needle colors to achieve soft shading from the outside edge of each diamond to its center. The “blackwork” background is backstitched and echos the diamond design. Because of the blended needle colors, no two stitched pieces will look precisely the same.
